From a garage to 100,000 teams

It started with a frustration every youth coach knows: the new kits arrive too late. Rudi Sprügel set out to change that – and founded JAKO.

A garage between two rivers

In 1989 Rudi Sprügel started out in his brother's garage in Stachenhausen, in the Hohenlohe region. The name stands for home: JA for the river Jagst, KO for the Kocher. The idea was simple and is still the core of the brand – kit out clubs quickly, reliably and affordably.

„Youth football is the foundation of the sport.“

Growing without losing the roots

In 1992 JAKO moved to Hollenbach with five employees; in 1999 SC Freiburg became the first Bundesliga club in JAKO. By 2018 more than 100,000 teams in over 50 countries wore the brand. Since 2021 Nadine and Yvonne Sprügel have led the family business in its second generation.

For the grassroots

Together with the charity KOMM MIT, JAKO has handed over more than 25,000 shirts, shorts and socks to over 600 youth clubs since 2022. The founding idea still holds: every team deserves kit it can be proud of.
